Charles Dudouyt, lounge chair, oak, paper cord, France, 1940s
Decorative lounge chair by Charles Dudouyt. The frame has multiple carved details that add up to a complex whole. Carved lines and circular ends, straight and round parts come together to form a rather striking Art Deco chair. Special feature is the flexible backrest that can be moved all the way towards the seat. Webbed Danish paper cord as the material for the seat adds a natural character to the patinated frames and the overall design.
The backrest folds down.
Condition report:
Good condition for the age. We have restrung the cord seats with the original paper cord. There have been a couple of historic repairs which have been undertaken with sensitivity and are barely noticeable. Structurally very sound and fully treated. Please do ask for further information on condition and you are welcome to view if you are able to visit the Kent coast or additional images can be provided.
